WGN Channel 9 - WGN Presents - "Mutiny On The Bounty" (Ending & Break, 1977)

Here's something pretty rare - the ending of a WGN Presents airing of "Mutiny on the Bounty" from 1977! You'll notice the graphics used here are the scrolling movie marquee version which we also saw in this example from 1980. I thought they were using an earlier version of the opening in 1977. Actually, I have an example from 1979 that uses the older version's "spotlight" motif with movie stars faces inside them. I gu...

Here is a segment from The Day After on WLS Channel 7 - an ABC Theater telemovie about the effects of a full-scale nuclear attack on the United States. Features someone doing a passable Ronald Reagan impersonation as the President addressing the nation after the nuclear war. The Goose Lives!!

Found on an ancient, open-reel black & white skip field recording that was donated to us along with a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff, and tucked away at the end of the reel, this gem was discovered - some footage from Garfield Goose and Friends on WGN Channel 9 that has been lost and unseen for almost 40 years!! (originally broadcast in color, but captured on this early home videotape recorder in black and white)

As y...

Here's a commercial for the "beautiful" music of WLAK - The Lake FM 94 - "The Place to Relax", which played a lot of instrumental easy-listening songs.

This station is now known as WLIT-FM (93.9 "My FM"). Each November and December, they torture Chicagoans with non-stop holiday music.

Featuring actor Patrick O'Neal (who starred in my favorite Columbo episode in 1978, "Make Me A Perfect Murder") (O'Neal also did this same type of ad (and with the same slog...

WFLD Channel 32 - Editorial - "School Hearings" (1981)

Here's a rare WFLD Editorial (first one we've ever found!). This one features Robert R. Hartman, General Manager of WFLD-TV.

He talks about the public hearings that are being held at local area High Schools in order for the Chicago Plan Commission (headed by Miles Berger) to solicit feedback regarding "Mayor Byrne's comprehensive plan for future development in the city". It ends with a listing of the hearings, what school they will take place at and on what date and time. "C...

Here's a commercial for the home video game Laser Blast by Activision, touting itself as "A New Game Cartridge for Your Atari Video Game System" (and contrasting itself to its "dull" predecessors). The purpose is to go after the other side's force fields and dodge their tracking systems. (Ah, remember those good ol' days? ;-) )
