The Reluctant Robot (Part 8, 1980)

Here is the 8th and final part from another all but forgotten Field Communications special production - The Reluctant Robot. It was produced to get kids interested in Astronomical Science; pulsars, planets, space travel, etc. You can definitely see the influence from Star Wars a couple years earlier. The budget must not have been too great because the whole thing comes off as feeling like an episode of Dr. Who. (not that there's anything *wrong* with that) ;-)

Here's a promo for WFLD Channel 32's "Video Voyage" contest, in which winners could win a trip to Hawaii or a "home video tape recorder" (that's VCR to the rest of us), during which the viewer on the screen gets repeatedly hit on the head by a coconut.

Features clips from such Channel 32 staples as All in the Family (from the "Gloria's Pregnancy" episode which originally aired on February 16th 1971) and M*A*S*H (with Klinger's "big plan" consisting of guard duty...

WREX Channel 13 - "The Circus" (Take 3, 1969)

Here's the third and final take of a (evidently lipsynced) performance from a band called "The Circus" - recorded at WREX Channel 13 in Rockford, IL. (Not sure if this ever ran on or was intended to run on WCIU Channel 26 or not.)

This came from the other Quad tape that I found in Jack Mulqueen's basement recently. (Recorded in low band, according to the slate at the opening of this clip - as accompanied by an 800 Hz tone).

I was hoping this tape might have c...

Asch and Associates - "Bill Cassidy Commercial Demo Reel" (1975?)

Here's an interesting item we found recently - what seems like a demo reel from a company called Asch and Associates - Film and Videotape Production, for someone named Bill Cassidy, who presumably was the producer or director behind all of these spots. If anyone has any additional information, please let us know. Includes:

Screaming Yellow Theater (Svengoolie) - "Larry Lujack" - Svengoolie's Comedy News (Transition, 1973)

Here's another segment from Screaming Yellow Theater - the original Svengoolie, which aired on WFLD Channel 32 from 1970-1973. Svengoolie was played by Jerry G. Bishop. By this point, if the clapboard is of any indication, the SYT title had been eschewed in favor of Svengoolie.

This segment is from Show #61 (according to the clapboard), with guest Larry "Superjock" Lujack. The recording date was April 11th 1973.

This segment is call...
