Here's another "lost" (or heretofore undiscovered) Son of Sven segment!

It's a hilariously free-form partial mail segment from Son of Svengoolie Episode #80, on WFLD Channel 32, in which "Monster on the Campus" [1958] was shown, with four cheerleaders from the Chicago Lions taking turns sitting with Sven as they explain who they are and show various mail sent by viewers (and Sven advising they send birthday greetings three weeks in advance!). (one of these days I'll get around to transcribing all of the names Sven mentions as best as I can - but - today is not that day) ;-) (unless anyone wants to give it a shot in the comments?)

Sven is initially seated with Chicago Lions cheerleader Annie Bosco(?), who had been with the team four months. Also joining him at various points are fellow Lions showgirls Susan Corbett(?) from Denver, CO, who speaks of the differences between that town and Chicago; Laura Griffin who recently tried out for a musical production of Godspell and who wanted to send get-well wishes to her Aunt, fellow Chicago Lion showgirl Karen Gatz(?); and Colleen Summerville(?) who's about to marry Ray Romanski later that year in September.

During this reeeeeally long segment, Sven at one point asks [WFLD Director] Don [Shannon] how much time they have left - turns out it would be another whole minute and a half! An audio drop-in also has a funny nod to the past - "Yes sir, Mr. [Jerry G.] Bishop!" to which Sven replies, "Mr. Bishop doesn't work here anymore - he's in California!"

At the end of the segment, the three other girls join behind them and Sven previews next week's movie, "The Monolith Monsters" (1957).

Finally, the ol' Cards and Letters" theme is played (a segment of Stan Freberg's 1957 Lawrence Welk parody "Wun'erful, Wun'erful!", where "The Lemon Sisters" sing "Thank You").

"To you and all the other gats and the little gittens..."

This aired on local Chicago TV on Saturday, January 17th 1981 during the 8:00pm to 10:00pm timeframe.
