WLS Channel 7 - Sunday Night Movie - "Lolita" (Promo, 1973)

Here's a promo for the upcoming Sunday Night Movie presentation of the 1962 film "Lolita" starring James Mason and Sue Lyon, to air on Sunday, June 10th 1973 at 10:45pm.

This was preserved on a silent 16mm film (I added the Lolita theme since I wasn't sure what else might have been appropriate). The actual airing of this promo would have been accompanied by a voiceover from any of Channel 7's staff announcers of the period, including Fred Kasper, Al Parker, Mike Rapchak, Art Hellyer and Wayne Atkinson.

The beautiful artwork is by Cathy Mustari, who worked in WLS's art department from 1970 to 1974; she would go from there to head WFLD Channel 32's art department until the late '80's.

This promo aired on local Chicago TV the first week of June 1973.

Wow! I'm sure this promo caught a lot of attention at the time, which is the purpose of a promo in the first place.

Quite an opening for a Sunday night movie show. Perhaps they had more viewers in the late 70's. I do however think Fuzz that the variant on the Meow Mix song isn't as appropriate as you might think:)
