Here's the last part of an Eyewitness News Brief on WLS Channel 7, anchored by Chuck Goudie. Here, he reports on the continuing drive to make Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday a national holiday, and with that he concludes the report and promises more news at 4:30pm.

At the end of a tape was the ending only of the Eyewitness News at 5pm on WLS Channel 7. This came from a studio recording, not off-air, so the audio is eventually turned down and the picture goes to a static shot of the Eyewitness News set. Features Jay Levine, Terry Murphy, and Joel Daly.

Here are two News Headlines segments (with slight variations) featuring Kathy McFarland on WFLD Channel 32. These previews for the news appeared at two different times during the airing of the 7 O'Clock movie that night. The top story was Mayor Jane Byrne conceding the Democratic primary to Harold Washington.
By 1983 WFLD had dropped the "Newscene" moniker, and went with the generic "News Headlines". It also stopped being listed as a separate program airing at 9:55pm. Stran...
