KOCO Channel 5 - Lunch With Ho Ho (Promo #2, 1965)

Here is a promo for "Lunch With Ho-Ho" on KOCO-TV Channel 5 in Oklahoma City. This was a children's program featuring HoHo the Clown (played by Ed Birchall) and Pokey the Puppet (played by Bill Howard, the station's long-time stage manager wearing a sock-puppet on his arm).

We can probably assume that this was recorded at the same session as the first promo, i.e., on Wednesday, August 11th 1965. The Director was "Thrash" with Camera by "Rose and Waters".

Atari Home Computers - Kiosk Videodisc Presentation (Part 3, 1982)

Here's Part 3, the last part, of an interesting time capsule - the presentation from a videodisc that ran on an in-store kiosk display to demonstrate the Atari Home Computer. This was around the time of Dragon's Lair and other laserdisc games which made the medium very popular for encorporating with computers.

The label on the laserdisc says "E.R.I.C. POP". I know POP stands for Point of Purchase - not sure about the ERIC part.

Starring Brooke Alderson as "The Mo...

Finally - some WFLD stuff from the same batch that isn't from March 1971. ;-) Here is an on-screen notice during The Jack Benny Show on WFLD Channel 32 informing you of a "Black & White Telecast".

Can anyone with access to the old TV guides find a listing for The Jack Benny Show on WFLD? Also, refresh my memory - when was Kaiser Broadcasting in control of WFLD? I know it ended in September of 1977, but not when they began exactly.

Not sure when this aired exa...

Here's something not from Chicago TV but still interesting to show the differences in stations presentations' of The Day After (an ABC Theater telemovie about the effects of a full-scale nuclear attack on the United States).

WLS-TV did not have an on-screen station ID for the entirety of the movie. However, WDHO Channel 24 in Toledo, Ohio apparently thought it was appropriate to put several of their ID's on screen throughout the movie - the most distracting of th...

WGN Channel 9 - WGN Thursday Night Movie - "Taxi Driver TV Disclaimer Ending" (1982)

On WGN Channel 9, the Thursday Night Movie one particular evening was Martin Scorsese' Taxi Driver - what you might call a "difficult" film to air on regular broadcast television. Besides making some comical expletive overdubs, they added this curious disclaimer to the end of the film, which was not present in the theatrical or DVD releases, as seen here:

"TO OUR TELEVISION AUDIENCE - In the aftermath of violence, the distinction between hero and villain is sometimes a matter ...
