Too many good memories in this commercial (Old Comiskey, those awful hairstyles of the late 70's, the Dixieland band that Veeck had wandering the park, etc.). Only needs Andy the Clown to make it complete.

Wonder how the NA NA NA song became related to baseball?

Nancy Faust is generally credited with being the person who brought it to baseball, not just the White Sox. She's been the organist at both Comiskey Parks (the latter being The Cell) since 1970, the year I graduated grammar school and started high school. Her Wikipedia page is here:

Ugh "The Cell". It's always Comiskey to me.

I hear ya, Officedrone. I will always think of it as Comiskey Park the Second, because the original (the one where Appling, Aparicio, Collins etc. played) is gone.

The White Sox started using the team logo featured in this promo in 1982, so I don't think that it is older than that. This is a great posting no matter what.

Actually, to clear up a couple of things...the featured team logo was NOT first used by the Sox in 1982. It was first used in 1976 when Bill Veeck bought the team. It can be seen in any photos of the park, old scorecards, Sox ads, etc. during the late '70's. They kept the logo into the 1980's. Also, this commerical ran in 1978, just prior to the '78 season. Veeck was trying to build upon the great fan outpouring during the exciting season of 1977, and used the song during this commercial. The song had actually been played by Nancy Faust in seasons previous to 1977, but fans didn't start singing along until 1977, when it really caught on and became the rallying cry for that unforgettable summer.

Just found out something kind of cool - comedian and TV personality Kathy Griffin appears in this commercial. It was her first role, when she was 17 years old. She appears at about the 15 second mark - blowing a kazoo. She has braids, a Sox hat and what looks like a pink checkered shirt, and is all the way to the left of the picture in the second row.

Wow! I'll be damned. I just saw her about a week ago at a book signing. I'm not a huge fan of hers so I didn't go into the bookstore but I was at the Jamba Juice nearby when she went in.
