WFLD Channel 32 - Son of Svengoolie - "Dracula" (Song & Break #1, 1981)

Just unearthed some more vintage Sven - Here's the song and commercial break from Son of Svengoolie episode #122 showing the original "Dracula" on WFLD Channel 32. This is actually the earliest off-air recording yet found of a Son of Svengoolie episode. (There are earlier bits, but those are from studio masters, or are just promos - not from an off-air episode.) It's too bad more of this stuff hasn't turned up yet.

Unfortunately, the person who recorded the show did it in Black & White, but hey, it's better than nothing. :-)

Includes:

Son of Svengoolie song parody (of "Tryin' To Live My Life Without You" by Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band)

Florida Board of Tourism - "I need it bad..." (When You Need It Bad, We've Got It Good)

Coleco Gun It & Go Chopper

John M. Smyth's Homemakers with Shelly Long

American Eagle from American Motors

WFLD Eight O'Clock Movie promo for "The Pleasure of His Company" (voiceover by Jim Barton)

Son of Svengoolie "Tombstone" bumper

This aired on local Chicago TV on Saturday, November 14th 1981.

As far as the song parody, it's a Bob Seeger song:

Movie for a Saturday Afternoon was dropped for Svengoolie to pair up with Monstrous Movie that year.

I remember the Florida Tourism "I Need It Bad" 1980's campaign. (If you live in Florida, you needed it bad when there is a Tropical Storm or Hurricane watch/warning).

I had forgotten how very clever and funny Rich Koz was (and still is!) his parodies are genuinely good fun and pretty funny. Love the Homemakers commercial with Shelly Long- what a long way she went in her career, huh? From furniture pitching to pitching barbs with Carla at Cheers!
