Empire Carpets (Commercial, 1995)

Here is a later commercial for Empire Carpets. Not too much longer and he would morph into an animated CGI character to remain ageless for all eternity. :-)

This aired on local Chicago TV Saturday, January 21st 1995.

Wow, it's been a while.

This version of "In the Midnight Hour" is by Richard Alden. The opening track is Mike Oldfield's "Taurus 1." I've watched this clip so many times that it's weird hearing these tracks in their entirety.

However, no idea still who did the cringeworthy "Mandy" cover. I guess even Shazam has its pride. :')

Re: Nasty McEvil (boy, is that fun to say) - it's John Stephenson, evidently channeling Conried.

Interesting that they used a Tweety Bird stuffed animal at the beginning of this ad instead of a generic, non copyrighted plush toy.

I was watching the show as a lad in about this timeframe, and I have zero memory of the sunburst around the clock. Memory is so fickle.

I miss Osco's.

I remember an article written about her shortly after her debut with the headline "Yu Sends Me," that also remarked on how attractive she was. Between her and Deborah Norville, channel 5 seemed to specialize in beautiful anchors.

VintageCanada: I think Fuzzy can confirm this, but I believe it was 2 60 minute 3/4" U-Matic tapes. I'm guessing the tape change took place during a commercial break and was done in under 2 minutes.

I think nobody's bothered to ask this yet: how many tapes were used to record this movie? It is possible some bits of the overall recording would've been cut in order to change tapes.
