Here is a later commercial for Empire Carpets. Not too much longer and he would morph into an animated CGI character to remain ageless for all eternity. :-)

I'm 100% positive that the main voiceover is by Jack Wagner. He did many announcements and monorails spiels at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. The Christmas Carol record is significant because it led to the development of the Mickey's Christmas Carol short in 1983.

I think you mean 1983 because that was the year "Mickey's Christmas Carol" was released in theaters along with the re-release of "The Rescuers."

Reminds you of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" where Charlie Brown brings back a little green Christmas tree but towards the end it becomes a nice Christmas tree.

In 1984, Hardee's had a promotion with Mickey's Christmas Carol plush dolls.
