Hamm's Beer - "Duck Trouble" (1980)

Here's one of the memorable animated commercials (in color) for Hamm's, the beer refreshing, starring the Hamm's bear and a duck family that gets sucked into some rapids.

Ah, the days when you could use a cartoon to advertise beer.

Featuring the "From the land of sky-blue waters..." jingle.

This aired on local Chicago TV on Wednesday, April 2nd 1980.

The guy talking in the commercial is Howard Platt. He was the police officer "Hoppy" in Sanford and Son, among many other guest appearances on countless shows. Also I believe he was from Chicago.

Cool clip Fuzzy. Thanks for posting. I'd love to see some commercials for Old Style and Meister Brau.

Maybe it's because I'm not that old, but that is the weirdest beer commercial I ever saw.

The 1977-78 DePaul team was led by the mighty Dave Corzine, who went pro after that season and, of course, would spend seven years with the Bulls.

I ate way too much Quaker instant oatmeal growing up. The raisins & spice was my favorite.

Good Lord, this is not the way to sell a radio station. As Fuzzy says, utterly generic, not to mention redundant ("old great classics"). What genre are they selling?? Plus, the camera is right in his face like an '80s PSA, and he sounds like he's hawking something on a street corner. I'm surprised he didn't start by saying "Psst! Hey, kid!"

I may be wrong, but that mic might look like the Electro-Voice EV-667 . . .

I know some people was mad as heck that night, lol!! The way the words at the bottom of the screen was soooo slow that I can't imagine how the people felt waiting for the numbers to see if they won, lol!!!

It would be interesting to hear an aircheck of the early Loop...get an idea of what they were putting out on the airwaves before they went personality-driven, unabashedly hardcore rock.
