I remember seeing the host of "Chicago Week in Review" (can't remember his name--Joel something) walking into town from Union Station. I'd've struck up a conversation, but it was a typical Chicago winter day (i.e. colder than Kelsey's you-know-what) and all I could think of was getting inside. That was a really good show. Is it still on the air?

Any "Image Union" clips out there?

Ro - Joel Weisman is his name. :-)

I have some Image Union clips here - do a search for it. I should post more though.

Thanks, Fuzzy! It actually came to me later. I'll check for "Image Union" clips; that show was classic.

Anyone know when they began using that particular logo?

Meaning the 11.

I'm curious - from which of the Chicago TV stations were these Starbeat ads produced? I'm sure RCA TK-27/28 film chains were used for the slide transmission . . .

Fuzzy: I wish you found another Kenny Rogers mail order record album TV commercial from the same early 1980's time for the 2 record set "Gold Dust and Gold Mine" featuring songs from the Kenny Rogers First Edition era.

$50,000 a day? lol No, that's $50,000 a year for the next 20 years until 2002 for a total of $1 Million.

Found this photo on a MySpace page of a band called "Passion" playing at Saints & Sinners:

The other big question: Which station produced this ad? If WBBM, then its cuts from one slide to another differed significantly from the clunky "fade-out--fade-in" transitions for which New York sister WCBS Channel 2 was famous for decades, from the '50's well to the '80's. But then, practically every Chicago station, I.I.N.M., had RCA TK-27 film chains through which we all saw these slides (and films), and a few by this time may've even gotten the newer TK-28's.

Wow, I want to know what the Intergalatic Robot Show was!

I don't know about the first incarnation of Temptations but during the second go round it was a lesbian bar.

Via the Googles:

Put'n On The Ritz - Best guess is that it eventually became a place called Cafe 22 (the addresses match based on a newspaper article), and was at one point the Lombard Beef n' Barrel. I gave up trying to figure out where the eff this place was.

Inn and Around - Became a nightclub called Temptations, changed names to "Come Back Inn Sports Bar & Grill", then went back to Temptations before closing in 2012. Yelp says there was also a club called Club VIP there at some point.

Saints & Sinners - Apparently next to a cemetery, how lovely. Now housing.

Erik the Red - Now an Irish pub called Blackthorn Pub.

Tovia Club - Now called the Chicago 21 Club. Most definitely no sign of 2-million dollar anything here.

The Vineyard - Looks like the whole shopping center was given a makeover at some point, so it sure as hell ain't there now.

Ships Rail Lounge - Looks like there was some legal bankruptcy mess over the Dolton Lodge; it eventually became the Dorchester Senior Center which, quite honestly, looks like the most depressing senior center ever.

From what I've read, NYC rights to "Her Twelve Men" were held on and off by WOR Channel 9 for years.

Ok, I can do that. :-)

I would love to see the Her Twelve Men bumper art card as a cover photo on the Facebook page. My research says WBBM first showed the film in 1973, so the art card probably is from that date.
