Fun Fountain by Wham-O (Commercial, 1980)

Here's a commercial for the Fun Fountain by Wham-O - the clown with a hat that rises up on a stream of water.

One of our neighbors on our block had this - it was fun, but man that clown hat sure hurt when it fell back down on you!

This aired on local Chicago TV on Tuesday June 3rd 1980 between 3 and 4pm! (1979 Copyright)

I had this as a kid and also something by Wham-o called Willie Waterbug. He had plastic tubes that whipped around on top of his head and they hurt!

I had one of these too. It used to be funny seeing one of my friends get nailed in the head with the hat if they stood over the stream too long.

smctopia-- Thank you!! I had Willie Waterbug and he hurt like the dickens! It was one of my first experiences of, "This isn't as fun as it was in the ad!"

I used to have one of these too, back when I was about 2 or 3, although I didn't use it much in the summer times.

He will be missed.

Off the Wall was just one of four college-themed sitcoms that sank over the next two years, though this one was a year before Animal House. In 1979, AH ripoffs Brothers & Sisters, Delta House, and Co-Ed Fever would all bomb, with the latter lasting a whopping single episode like this stinker.

The 1977-78 DePaul team was led by the mighty Dave Corzine, who went pro after that season and, of course, would spend seven years with the Bulls.

I ate way too much Quaker instant oatmeal growing up. The raisins & spice was my favorite.

Good Lord, this is not the way to sell a radio station. As Fuzzy says, utterly generic, not to mention redundant ("old great classics"). What genre are they selling?? Plus, the camera is right in his face like an '80s PSA, and he sounds like he's hawking something on a street corner. I'm surprised he didn't start by saying "Psst! Hey, kid!"

I may be wrong, but that mic might look like the Electro-Voice EV-667 . . .

I know some people was mad as heck that night, lol!! The way the words at the bottom of the screen was soooo slow that I can't imagine how the people felt waiting for the numbers to see if they won, lol!!!
